The Beatles - I Want You (She’s So Heavy)

I’m gonna tell you right now; this is probably, without a shadow of doubt in my mind, my favorite Beatles song of all time. This piece blows my mind every single time I hear it.

He wants someone. He wants her so bad it’s driving him MAD. That someone he wants? She’s heavy. She’s SO heavy. So heavy only a nearly eight minute blues jam could possibly describe and contain the heaviness that is she.

Also this song only has four goddamn lines in it. Four lines repeated over and over with more and more conviction until you reach the final three minutes, where you are bombarded with perhaps the heaviest Beatles riff ever. Over and over and over and over and over and over. Until you are completely lost in it.

Then, just as you are reaching the end of this heavy/sexy/bluesy journey, just as you could be more wrapped up and comfortable within it’s delicious fuzzy embrace, it cuts out…

Leaves you hanging.

Dumps you off on the curb,

and you couldn’t be more satisfied.
