lostinmymuseum-deactivated20130 asked: Regarding the Carrie remake: I saw the trailer yesterday and I can't picture Chloe Moretz as an outcast looking like that. Never mind that she doesn't have Sissy's other-worldly look. Why would she not have [a] friend or [a] guy crushing on her? But I'll see the movie anyway because I like the actress and I'm actually very curious to see if my opinion changes. How do you feel? I guess you feel differently since you're posting gifs and stills from the film.
This is pretty much exactly how both bohemea and I feel about the Carrie remake, that it’s hard to envision Chloe Moretz as an awkward loner, something that shows through even in the trailer. The girl is just, well, too pretty. You’re right that Sissy Spacek’s odd beauty made her perfect for that aspect of Carrie. But where Chloe Moretz is going to shine is in the latter part of the movie, when Carrie goes crazy-killer. She can exude considerable darkness-this is where she reminds me a lot of Christina Ricci at her age. And as the last part of this version of the movie is so similar to the book and much grander than the original movie, that dark anger in her is what’s going to save and ultimately validate her performance.
Mainly though, I’m seeing it for Julianne Moore. She is always completely enrapturing to watch and is so underrated as a perforner - much like Naomi Watts or Kirsten Dunst.
