I feel as if this intense, heartbreaking trailer speaks every necessary word. The film tells the true story of Eric Lomax (Firth), a victim from World War II’s “Death Railway”, who sets out to find those responsible for his torture. Kidman plays his wife, determined to support her troubled husband, suffering still from the devastation he experienced. The Railway Man is adapted from Lomax’s autobiography, published in 1995. Just watching this trailer proves, as they always do, that Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman are two power-house actors with all the gifted thespian gravitas needed to inhabit a character and engage an audience, and it is a gift to see them together. The film also stars Swedish Super Dad Stellan Skarsgård. Yeah, that’s right! Two Mamma Mia Dads together again! This time to work through horrible pain and personal loss instead of singing their feels. Still feel like maybe we should just watch it real quick. Then we’ll watch Moulin Rouge and we’ll remember that Kidman and Firth can do EVERYTHING!

The first trailer has been released for the Grace Kelly biopic titled Grace of Monaco, starring Nicole Kidman. It’s a short teaser that doesn’t reveal the plot of the film, but instead features shots of Kidman as Princess Grace as this beautiful piece of dialogue is recited: You are the fairy tale, the serenity to which we all aspire, and peace will come when you embrace the roles you have been destined to play, for no matter where you are in years to come they will continue to whisper your name: the Princess, Grace. Nicole Kidman is the fairy tale! She looks so perfectly beautiful and ethereal in this trailer that I cried. I cried just looking at Nicole Kidman’s face! That actually happens a lot, but it hasn’t in awhile, and I was swept away by the emotion I feel when I watch her, she leaves me breathless. The film is directed by Olivier Dahan (La Vie En Rose) and co-stars Tim Roth as Prince Rainier. The film will have a limited US release November 27th. I hope it does well. I hope Nicole is nominated for tons of awards alongside Cate Blanchett’s inevitable nominations for Blue Jasmine. I hope they hold hands and kiss at every event!
