The Hour is a fantastic show! SB & I just finished watching the first season/series & the second starts soon. It’s like Mad Men with espionage & less existential crises. It’s stylish, wickedly smart & acted beautifully; each character is memorable, even the slightest players. I love the relationship between Garai & Whishaw’s characters, especially. Garai plays Bel with this wonderful seething undercurrent that sizzles about beneath a cheeky outspoken demeanour. When she giggles, usually in reaction to something Whishaw’s character Freddie has said, it’s like pure joy contained within one impish noise. Dominic West, Anna Chancellor & Oona Chaplin also give delightful performances that will fill your heart with joy & make you glad to be spending time with such talented performers. I love a show that’s so smart it’s challenging but also playful & fun. Give it a watch, why doncha?
